The 2nd Annual Mesa Verde Literary Festival will be held in downtown Mancos, Colorado on Saturday, Sept. 5.

The festival will include individual presentations by authors (some local, some travelling from all over the country) in restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, patios, and shops in downtown Mancos. The day will also include panels on a variety of reading and writing topics, a student poetry slam, a pop-up bookstore for festival authors, and an evening keynote talk.

The festival is free to the public. All are invited to enjoy the talks, panels, and presentations.

Authors who would like to participate in the festival may fill out the Author Interest Form below. Authors who fill out the form by Friday, May 1 will have the best chance of being accepted. You will be notified by June 1 at the latest if you have been selected. Travel to Mancos and accommodations are all paid by the author, although a small honorarium may be available. 

The festival is open to published authors (traditionally or independently published) who write non-fiction, poetry, memoir, and fiction in a variety of genres including literary, mystery, thriller, horror, young adult, and romance.
 
Accepted authors will be offered a spot on a panel and will also be invited to submit a proposal for an individual author talk to discuss their work. The Mesa Verde Literary Festival is primarily designed to connect readers with writers so we are requesting that author talks focus on the content of your books (and not so much about the writing process).

The day will include a festival bookstore, managed by Mancos' own Hand in Hand Books & Bottles Shop so festival attendees can buy books from visiting authors—and have them signed.
